Frequently Asked Questions
How do you research funding opportunities?
We use a variety of funding research techniques which will include Internet research of federal, state and local government funding sources. But we also analyze the individual grants that funders have made in the past. Bottom line: The grants that funders have made in the recent past is the single biggest predictor of a good funding match.
How long does the funding research take?
Our funding research can last between two to four weeks, depending on the scope and complexity of the funding research that is required.
Who can I contact to discuss our project?
The Grants Research Institute is a small company, so you will be able to discuss your project directly with Mr. Edward Wollmann, the managing partner of GRI. Edward can be reached via our contact us web page.
Do you have a money back guarantee?
There are a lot of variables that determine whether or not a grant proposal will get funded. For this reason, it would be unrealistic for us to offer such a guarantee. We can guarantee however, that we will work long and hard on your behalf to help you achieve grant funding success.
Can you help me develop an original program idea?
We can help you develop an original program idea into a well-designed grant proposal. We do this by working with you to make sure that your evolving proposal is built on a program framework that incorporates the best practices of effective program design. Please contact us for more information about assistance with developing original program ideas.
Can we hire you to write the grant proposal for us?
We feel that the worst thing that can happen is for you to hire a grant writer who then gets the grant on your behalf. Why? Because the next time around, you’ll be more dependent than ever on your hired grant writer.
So what are the alternatives?
We believe the best way to help you is to provide you with the tools and the technical and whatever technical support you might need so you can write the grant proposal yourself. After all, it’s about organization and your story. But we can help you tell your story.
Can you teach us how to write grant proposals?
Yes we can, but only under certain conditions. For one thing, we don’t do ‘quickie’ grant writing workshops. Learning how to develop outstanding grant proposals is inherently a long-term investment of time and money. But when done right, it’s a greatest fundraising investment an organization can make to help assure its long-term future.
What is your company’s background in proposal development?
Edward Wollmann is the managing partner of the Grants Research Institute. Edward has over 18 years of experience in developing grant proposals and over 10 years of experience in teaching others how to write grant proposals.
- As a grant writer, Edward has earned over $14 million in federal, state and local grant funding.
- As a grant writing trainer, Edward’s students have earned over $140 MILLION in federal, state and local grant funding.
What about pricing?
We don’t have a price list for our services because every project is different. But here is what we will usually do:
- First, we listen while you describe your project idea.
- After that, we will begin to ask questions—lots of questions.
- Following that, we will offer different project scenarios to help us identify what you’re looking to get done.
- Then, we do some research to help us figure out our plan of work and also what the costs of our work might be to you.
- Finally, we reconvene to discuss both concept and costs.
The way we work might not be ‘slick’ or ‘pretty;’ but it is VERY effective.
